Culture for Cities and Regions - overview & update

  • culture

We update you on the latest activities as part of our Culture for Cities and Regions initiative.

Funded by the EU's Creative Europe programme, our Culture for Cities and Regions initiative enables the exchange of good practice between local and regional policy makers, both in terms of policy planning and implementation. We are leading the Culture for Cities and Regions initiative in partnership with KEA European Affairs.

Here is an update of the latest project activities:

  • 70 case studies: we are currently finalising a catalogue of 70 case studies showcasing the positive impact cultural investment can have on economic development, social inclusion and urban regeneration. Most of the case studies are already available online here and can be searched by themes or key words.
  • 15 thematic study visits: the call to attend the first five Culture for Cities and Regions study visits closed on 9 July. We received 240 applications and selected participants were informed in August. A second call for participation will open in November this year and a third in February next year. These will be for the remaining ten visits, which are due to take place from January to June 2016.
  • coaching for 10 selected cities and/or regions: there will be a series of coaching visits between September 2016 and April 2017. We will launch a call for interest in early 2016. Please note that cities and regions wishing to be coached need to attend at least one study visit.
