mobility
Mobility and the environment are fully interconnected. Our mobility forum seeks to strengthen the relationship between these issues, with a long-term goal of achieving a fully-integrated approach linking transport, environment and economic development.
We are committed to promoting sustainable and smart approaches to urban mobility, as well as promoting the safety of pedestrians and cyclists in cities. Our mobility forum provides cities with a platform to share best practices on these issues.
Our forum also gives members the opportunity to explore energy efficiency projects and developments being carried out by cities that have already signed up to the Covenant of Mayors initiative, through which city leaders commit to reducing CO2 emissions by at least 20% by 2020.
Our members continue towards better air quality and reduced noise. We have contributed to the EU Year of Air 2013 by responding to the EU air quality review, as well as providing input into the revision of the environmental noise directive and vehicle noise regulation.
We are also closely following the developments of the ‘smart cities’ initiative, which promotes the uptake of energy efficient and low carbon technologies.
