Our mobility forum promotes sustainable urban mobility, and aims to raise awareness of the contributions being made and challenges met at local level

The increasing volume of road traffic in urban areas leads to a wide range of problems: congestion and accidents, air pollution and noise, harm to the environment and to citizens' health.

Our members are committed to promoting more sustainable and integrated urban transport systems, providing citizens with convenient and accessible public transport, and protecting the safety of pedestrians and cyclists.

Transport policy in Europe has recently been dominated by the concept of sustainable mobility, mainly focused at EU and national level. We are engaging with the EU institutions and member states to press the importance of the local level and help cities to develop and implement more environmentally and user-friendly transport policies.

2015 priorities

  • Sustainable urban mobility plans

  • Funding, financing and new business models

  • Smart, integrated and inclusive mobility

In addition, the mobility forum functions as a platform where members exchange and develop effective and innovative urban transport solutions that are implemented within the scope of EU funded projects. An overview of mobility projects that are supported by the EUROCITIES projects team can be found here.
