How is the culture and the creative sector contributing to more gender equality in cities?

Urban development can reflect and reinforce gender inequalities, and those are particularly visible in the cultural and creative sector. Cities are key drivers and enablers for the cultural and creative sector’s contribution to sustainable development, which cannot be achieved without gender equality. Political actions can be taken at local level to promote gender equality in the cultural and creative sector, and cities are for instance organizing festivals and cultural events around the topic or running specific programmes to support women in the creative sector.

These case studies give a sample of the actions cities are carrying in this field. Don't hesitate to contact us if you have good examples from your city!
