From 28-30 October 2019, Cascais hosted a study visit focusing on MaaS, digital solutions and smart ticketing systems.
Throughout the CIVITAS study visit representatives from Farkadona, Sofia, Terrassa , Parma, the Provincie Osst Vlaanderen and Oslo discovered a medium sized city with a multimodal transport system where smart innovation get fully integrated.
Alongside several multimodal tours with e-bikes, e-scooters, e-buses and an autonomous shuttle; the study visit allowed for intense exchanges on how the city of Cascais managed to pilot its MaaS system, MOBI Cascais. Over the recent years the city has deployed a wide range of mobility options such as car sharing, bike sharing, shared electric scooters and an autonomous shuttle bus and integrated them seamlessly with its public transport offer (both trains and buses), as well as with parking facilities and electric charging points. Participants got to know also some of the smart innovations implemented in the city including an intelligent traffic light system, the regional integrated ticketing system (OTLIS - Metropolitan ticketing system) and a smart parking system.
